Hi Susan,

I take brown broken flax seed. The oil content in the seed is 20 %. The rest of the seed are mostly fiber. Now I'm not really sure, but I expect most of the active ingredients are in the oil. Then the oil is 5 times stronger than the seed.

I stopped taking glucosamine because I read it decreases insulin sensitivity. In three years of taking glucosamine, my Waist Hip Ratio went up from 0.85 to 0.95. Now it's back to 0.88.
That is very interesting about the flax and the glucosamine. Talking about insullin, I have been reading some other threads lately and I noticed anyone that was on metaformin sp? grew and tagiman sp?(this one I think is for heartburn/)..one or the other or both..
You mean tagamet for heartburn? Breast growth is one of its side effects, yes.

Metformin is a synthetic diabetes drug, that was designed starting from goat's rue. I've never given it that much thought, but it's not surprising that people grow on it.

There are lost of meds that have breast growth as side effects. My elder daughter grew big on the ethinylestradiol in her bcp. My ex grew on domperidon (motilium). People grow on antipsychotics too, and even lactate on them.
Really...

And interesting about the goats rue..so I guess most meds would be taken from herbs in some way..huh..

as for the barley I have pearl barley..but I eat oatmeal mostly cause I keep forgetting about the barleyBlush guess what I forgot what we were comparing for b6 or anti-androgens..if is was b6 neither of these are that great..oatmeal and pearl barley..I just looked up B6 foods and chickpeas are higher then cereal.. I just had some hummus today..
Good morning Susan,

The label of my oat flakes is here:

0.33 mg vitamin B6 per 100 g (4 oz.) is not bad. The Recommended Dietary Allowance is 2 mg.

The anti-androgen, you can easily check. Try it for two weeks, and keep an eye on acne, facial hair, hair loss, etc.
Goodmorning Isabelle,

You must have a different kind of oats them me, where you live they probably have better food. As for the chickpeas it was 2.2 mgs. My oat I think is only 0.1mg. I will check other foods too for cereal. So far the acne, chin hair, and facial hair are just ok.. I think it is getting better as for today good, will keep you updated.. ok time for coffee and cigBig Grin
Hi Isabelle,

I thought FG is also a phytoestrogen. If not then I need to eat more flax until my hops arrives, does GR have phytoestrogens?
No Susan,

GR doesn't have phyto-estrogens, and FG doesn't have them either. FG contains diosgenin, which increases progesterona and prolactin. It increases estrogens too, but very little.

Flax is not your only option. You tried soy successfully before.
OK Isabelle,

Then that is why adding hops to the mix is a good combo and if need more estrogen instead of adding too much hops only if it causes problems then just up estrogen foods, I guess taking the tumeric might helps some too for estrogen or that has none tooBlush I remember it being a combo of estrogen and progesterone or pro somethings Big Grin
Yes Susan,

Turmeric will help:

But it will add much more phyto-progestin than phyto-estrogen.

If you take enough anti-androgen, you could increase maca too.
