Hello Isabelle,
I'm new here and trying to find info on NBE, so I'm reading through the various threads. I've been reading your thread and have found info that I think will help me.
I have a couple of things for you and your readers.
1. In post #66, lled34aa mentioned a slimy feeling from tea bags containing fenugreek. Fenugreek contains mucilage, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenugreek
The slimyness is probably due to this. However, it could also be due to a couple of other things. A biofilm, bacterial slime, or a fungal slime, depending on how old the used tea bags are and how they were stored (warm and damp.)
(Please note that some herbs are anti-bacterial and/or anti-fungal.)
Flaxseed also contains mucilage, it is a soluble fiber and natural glue. Another use for flaxseed is for its mucilage.
2. Your and beachbumbythesea's discussion on maca starting in post #89, brought to mind an old song. Vikki Dougan or Vikki Turn Your Back on Me, by the Limeliters (album: The Slightly Fabulous Limeliters). See http://www.limeliters.net/vikki_dougan.html and http://www.limeliters.com
You can also Google her name and the song title. There is also a listing for her on Wikipedia.
