The Corset Training Thread

Hey BarelyB I am 5ft2 and the issue I have had in getting corsets in the past is definitely length. I had to get the waspie style and NOT the straight due to my torso. Regular corsets cut into my boobs and over my hips which are 31 1/2 inches.

Definitely get something that arches over the hip bones.

"Corsets-UK" is the same organization as "Corset-Story" (they are both MRRAY Ltd). I think this corset would be fine (I have the same one from Corset-Story... the "WT" stands for "waist-training") and it is specifically made for tight-lacing. Corset-Story (and Corset-UK, which are really the same) do have really good sales on at times.

The one I have is VERY well made and I have laced it so tight I get blisters on my hands! Good luck!

Hm. Really? Cuz that corset looks sooooo much like one of the ones that Indian dude was making. He sells under a lot of names on various places not just e-bay.

If so, sorry to have steered you wrongly, it's just that that guy really is everywhere and is ripping so many people off.

Misty, it looks like corset story sells a bunch of different brands. Some look pretty good but others not so much. Am I imaging things or are there really multiple brands? If your corset can withstand that kind of pressure than I might buy from the same brand when I need a new corset, assuming I ever actually manage to close the one I already have. How long have you owned it? Maybe Corset story will let me know what brand actually makes it.

*Edit* Hmmm... they are not cheap as I thought I remembered. A few weeks ago I saw an awesome "Baby" waspie by "What Katie Did" on Ebay for $80. They are normally $215 and they are super awesome (It already sold goddamnit!) . Then again, If people are reselling the corset story ones for cheap than I might still buy one, so I still wanna know more.

I have bought 3 corsets from them, the first last June and the other two in October. All three of them started with "WT-" and came specifically from their "waist training" line. They are very sturdy, with very strong nylon cord and can be laced very tightly. The first one I bought was 13.5 inches long (I'm 5'10") and the other two are 10.5 inches. The first one is a 28" and I bought a 26" and a 24" to follow after I could completely lace the 28" edge-to-edge.

Unfortunately I have had to stop for the time being (again) because lacing them tightly aggravates the herniated disc in my back. I do, however, recommend their waist training line for anyone would is serious about corset training their bodies. I also suggest waiting for their sales (I got two of the corsets for half price).

Hello ladies,

I know this question is going to sound redundant possibly....I want to know from an experienced tightlacer if there is some here who.... Has worn your corset while gaining weight for the purpose of redirecting fat.

I know the main point of a corset is to get a smaller waist, but we all know that those results are not permanent. So what I want to know instead is... Have you noticed that the weight has been distributed differently, more fat storage on hips/butt , since it cannot deposit on the waist....Please be someone who has worn their corset for an extended period of time( 3-6 months, or years) I would greatly appreciate your reply! Thanks.

I have seen in previous perusing around on the Corset Story website a few corsets designed specifically for people shorter than 5'4". Since I really took no interest in them (since I am 5'5" with a long-ish torso), I cannot remember now where on the website I found them (they really do have a lot of corsets...), so it probably would not hurt you to write them and ask them specifically which corsets they would recommend for someone of your height.
They should respond within a day. Let me know if you need any help with any of this.

I am at a point in my life where I am still experiencing many realizations about myself and who I am, searching. Hearing your way of seeing it really cleared my mind of how I have been seeing myself for so long. I think I have a fear that the people in my life will see me change and judge me in some way. It feels so amazing to have identified this problem that has been causing me stress! Now to move beyond feeling this way and start living My life .

I came back to my post and edited it to say I planned on getting an underbust and then saw your comment and see you think it is best also Blush
I also think it is more ideal and even more sexy in my opinion, having an open chest just seems more exciting (;

I completely understand where you are coming from, which is why I responded to your question. I am 28 and sometimes I feel like I am still unsure of "who I am" in many ways (best example is that I still do not know what career field I want to get into permanently to work... a little late at 28 but hey, I guess everyone is different). And of course it was not even that long ago in which I was unsure of who I was as far as what I wanted for my body (like your recent dilemma). I am so glad to have helped you, even if just a little! I find it to be THE most frustrating thing in my life (to be unsure of "who I am"), and being afraid of people judging you, on top of that, only makes matters worse. So I can completely relate. But so happy to see that you are now able to get out of that! Smile Fantastic.

And agreed with the open chest... you'll have different options as far as how you choose to wear it! Take your time finding the right one Wink

You are quite different from me in this, I'm all legs. What height I do have, anyways, and I'm really not tall at all at 5'4".

Note that if you buy from the same place as Misty, that'll be fine, but if you buy from TT, you'll have to do it a little different. I can't really do the whole video thing, and the TT instructions are slightly confusing, but if anyone would like me to, I could try to clarify the TT instructions and amplify them with some wisdom of my own experience.

The difference is that they make recommendations based upon a 4-5 inch reduction, which is considered a more "normal" and not as drastic a reduction. When we're pushing for 6-7", we're pretty much pushing for as tight as we can possibly go.

Thank you! And yes! This is all VERY exciting! The other day at school, it was the end of the day, and I'd taken my smock off, and one of the other girls were like, "Dang Abi, that top really looks good on you, and your physique!" And I was all oh, thanks, and then was about to explain that while yes, my top that day was really nice and flattering to my overall look that day, the real deal was that I was tight-laced underneath... But we cosmetologists are all part squirrel, you know, and the opportunity passed. Oh well. Now I feel guilty that the other girls think I have such an hourglass shape when I actually don't yet!

Ugh. DO NOT LONG-WEAR EDWARDIAN. EVER. Don't even think about it. Heck. Just don't even buy or wear one period unless you really need to for some kind of period costume, and then ONLY a couple hours tops at a time! Those beasts are HARMFUL!

Thanks a lot for your response, Abidrew. I have since heard back form Corset Story and, with a ton of volleyed emails (they must cringe to see my name now), did find the same thing as what you mentioned above. However, I struggle to understand it. According to their explanation, what I gathered is that, for the 6-7" reduction corsets, the waist sizes which they recommend are ONLY waist sizes obtained AFTER having waist trained for sometime already. Basically, that 6-7" corsets are never, and should never, be designed for beginners. So, the 20" corset designed to give a 6-7" reduction is recommended for someone who is NOW (after having corseted for some time already) 24-25" in the waistline. If I was to ignore this and use a 6-7" reduction corset as a beginner with a 27" waist, should I go for the 20" corset (despite their strange size recommendation system)? Their reasoning just seems so silly to me... because, for a beginner, the 6-7" reduction corsets can be tightened only an inch more than the natural waistline just as a 4-5" reduction corset can. But who knows--I do not own a corset yet, so I may be missing something here.

Sorry to hear about your being fired. At least you have a better placement now! It seems that sometimes these things have to happen in order to bring along the bigger and better things in life. When one door closes, another one opens. I just have been given an opportunity for a job interview for a job that will be a heck of a lot less stressful than my current job and may pay a little better. Finding a less stressful job is a priority for me right now, just so that I can get my head above water again. This may even allow me to go back to Grad school! My interview is this Friday Smile

Oh, I WISH I could say I was all legs! And yes, once I found out how long the Edwardians are, I took them off my "to be considered" list.

And wow, that is one sure-sign way to know that the corset is working its wonders on you! Getting compliments already? And hey, if they don't know, they don't have to know Wink Just think of it this way, you worked to get your waist down to that size, so it IS yours to compliment. No need to push the compliments off onto your corset Tongue It's like me pushing off a compliment made towards my glutes and quads by saying, "well, really, it's because of the wonderful equipment at LA Fitness." Um heck no, you bet I'll be taking that compliment, thank you! You put out the effort, you deserve the compliment. The corset is just the tool you used in conjunction with your effort to make that happen. Now, if someone asked me how I managed to get those glutes and quads, I would tell them... and I am sure you would do the same with the corset. Just saying, there is no need for you to feel guilty just because you received a compliment, because you worked for it Wink And as far as you not having an hourglass shape yet... you will soon enough! For how long have you been corseting now, Abi?

And I think if you were to come up with a more detailed and clarified lacing instruction to provide for members of the forum on this thread to lace a TT corset, it will definitely be very helpful! As many people I am sure will be considering TT, it will make the process so much less uncertain for new tight-lacers to consider purchasing from TT if they know that they have access to a guide written by a fellow experienced lacer to lacing TT corsets. I think that is a great idea, Abi!

well i emailed a place my measurements. apparently my hips and my underbust are too wide for a standard sized corset, and my only option is a made to measure one would set me back around £140. Im suddenly fine with my waist-less, huge ribbed, fatty hipped body -_- bleh, customer service are nice to be fair but thats way out of my price range :-(

Yes, I've seen some of those ads. I think he mostly likely "borrows" the pictures from legitimate vendors. I doubt the actual merchandise matches the photos.
