Skipping periods aren't as dangerous as most people think. Why do you think most yearly birth controls advertise no or less periods? When I use PM (currently taking 500mg daily), I get cramps pretty often, but they usually come right before it's time for my next dosage. The nausea however is probably your stomach being a bit sensitive, try taking the pill after eating a blander meal like oatmeal.
I know missing a period is scary but it's normally not that big of a deal many women start missing periods on the depo or other birth control, it's just something that happens sometimes.
