Why?
I like having long hair and mine doesn't seem to go more than halfway down my back and it's starting to vanish a bit in the front!

Well, whatever makes you happy.

I'd MUCH rather grow my own, but, I shaved my head in `89 and haven cut it since! It SHOULD be dragging on the floor by now!! Most of it's as far as mid back and a few strands actually go to my lower back. If these wigs are only gonna be about $10.00 @, it's no great loss if I get one or two and don't like `em, or I don't look good in `em.

Do you use any product to help them out, like Biotin?

Just shampoo. I tried conditioner for a while years ago, but all it did was make my hair greasy and it took FOREVER to rinse it out!!
One thing that REALLY cheeses me off is, after I get out of the shower and comb my hair, I comb it out straight first just to get out all the knots shampooing might've put in, then, a second later, I start to put the part into it and it's INSTANTLY FILLED with knots I can't do anything but RIP out!! I do my best to comb through them, but some of them just WON'T comb!!!! I can't for the LIFE of me figure out where all these HORRIBLE knots came from literally a second after I combed them all out!!!!

You should talk to a hair stylist about that.

They cost way too much money!! Shortly after my hair started growing back, it was suggested that I get it trimmed every so often and that'd help it grow longer, faster. so, I did! The entire trimming took about 2 minutes and they charged me $20.00!! I saw another one a year or so later and she sold me this spray that is supposed to be really good for hair and makes it grow faster. A few years after that I was using some kind of hair removal stuff on my legs and I noticed that the ingredients in that were the EXACT same thing in the stuff that was supposed to make it grow!!!! :-O

*Olive oil
*Castor oil (I linked the brand of castor oil that I use below. This can be found at health food/whole food stores like Whole Foods, Sprouts Market, Central Market, ect)
*Unflavored Knox gelatin
*Honey
Get a glass bowl (not plastic!) and put 1 part olive oil and 1 part castor oil- how much you use depends on your length & thickness.
Heat the oil in the microwave for about 25 seconds. Stir and feel, if it needs more warming, then go for it. It heats up pretty quickly.
Add 1/2 packet of unflavkred Knox gelatin and stir.
Add 1/2 Tbl of honey and stir.

I realize this is an old thread & the OP may no longer be here at the forum. But did anyone try this? Have read about Olive, Castor or Coconut oil masks, tho curious what benefit the honey & gelatin would add?
