One of my concerns is stalling, yes, so that won't be a problem for you. Another is the breakdown of isoflavones in soy: it's mainly genistein and daidzein. Daidzein becomes equol if you have the right intestinal bacteria, so that's useful in NBE. I never read genistein helps, and some on the forum think it's counter-productive. I'd have to read some scientific work about the effect of pure genistein. 5-10 % of total isoflavones in soy is glycitein, which is also a weak phyto-estrogen.
Sellers of an expensive red clover supplement, Promensil, claim that the lack of biochanin A and formononetin in soy make it less effective than red clover in relieving menopause symptoms. I'd have to read up on the NBE effect of that too. Red clover is not necessarily a better NBE supplement for everybody: it's 50/50 phyto-estrogens and phyto-progestins. So in my case, I could stall on the phyto-progestins while I still need to maximize estrogens to grow longer milk ducts. You, on the other hand, could just use the phyto-progestins to grow glands and alveoli at the same time.
Finally, soy was one of the first NBE foods I experimented with ten years ago. It's great for smooth and shiny skin, but other than a little softening of the areola, it didn't do much in NBE. I must admit that this was before I learned about the importance of the right dose and of patience, so I may have used it in the wrong way, or not long enough.
Thank you Isabelle,
Exactly what I needed. Sometimes I'm not sure of the reasons and knowing them helps me understand and build some knowledge of my own .... also gives me some help in investigating further ...
Like I said ... Thanks
Karen
