I was reading through my new herbal, which is translated from German. It says stinging nettle root does not only contain anti-androgens, but lignans too. A quick search on scholar.google.nl showed that in the early 1990s, two German researchers, Rupert Kraus and Gerhard Spiteller, published 5 articles on stinging nettle root. They discovered no less than eight lignans in it, and even an aromatase blocker:

Because of this variety of NBE related compounds, results are unpredictable, so I'm not going to use it anytime soon.
But the real learning is the same as after my December 7th post on hops: as long as I enter English language search terms, I will find mostly English language literature. The German literature on herbs is substantial. Better start looking into it
