Size of breast implants

How do you know what cc implant you need to get the size you want? I went to 2 consultations and got 2 different answers. Very confusing. At the first one I was shown samples and the one I picked was 475cc. The doc looked me over and said it would be fine. He has 20 years experience of ops and seemd quite sure of things, but I always think you shouldn't jump in with the first advice on something like this, so it was in my mind all along to have 2 consultations. At the second one the doc didn't have any samples, but took careful measurements of my breasts and my frame instead, which the first one didn't do, then recommended 325cc. Big difference! He was advertising 5 years experience, but like the first doc seemed to know what he was doing. But this has just left me totally confused, as the outcomes of the 2 consultations are so different.

The second doctor took time to examine and measure you thoroughly before suggesting a size, which says something about being careful, responsible and professional in his judgements.

The first one might still be a hell of a good surgeon though.

Get a third consultation. :-)

I think Fennel Fairy's last comment is a good suggestion. A third consultation might make things clearer for you, especially as the outcomes of the first 2 were so different.

I vote for the first doc. I wouldn't let the fact that he didn't measure you be a negative, as he's probably so experienced that he didn't need to! Most likely he could tell just by looking. Plus it seems to me that the second doc is recommending what he thinks would be right for you, just based on his own opinion, whereas with the first doc he let you make the choice of what you thought would be right for you.

Many women say afterwards that they wish they had gone bigger. Remember that.

Hi Ginger,

I'm 5'1 107 lbs, and wouldn't go for normal implants, maybe injectable if I'm really desperate. I'm quite curvy round the hips so quite big suits me as I've seen from Brava swelling. Usually 32-34B but with Brava I've seen myself up to an F (which was pretty ugly!), I'd say on me 32D-DD is nice, or full 34C. If you can afford a set of Brava domes off ebay (even a crappy used set will give you some swelling to look at - you probably want narrow large or narrow medium size domes) then you can see what suits you for £200-300 maybe less - you can make an airlock out of fish tank tubing for about £2 and just wear it over a weekend. Alternatively buy a couple of sets of the silicone enhancers and try yourself with one set or see if you prefer two sets. I'd fill a 32D with one set but different brands are different sizes (La Senza own brand is quite small). But someone else who is bigger built say a 38 band size will only get a half cup increase from them so remember in terms of cc a really tiny girl won't need much (technically I think you can work out the cc you want by filling a sandwich bag with rice and measuring how much you used in a jug measure)

(no login) Do you really want implants? October 22 2007, 5:11 PM

Hi Ginger.

I just wanted to write since I have been reading this forum since March 2006. I
have done WU for 6 months, single herbs after that until now but with no growth.
I started PM 2 weeks ago and I finally feel some pain, I believe. I just want you to think about it one more time. A friend of mine had implants and she regret it so much. She was small, yes, very small but she has great personality
and did not need those big boobs. She has been through 4 surgeries and if she knew back then what she had to go through she would never have done it. I wanted implants too but seeing here and all her mess with the boobs, no thanks!
For sure, there is only a very small percentage with troubles like that but anyway, think about it.

Well I do not want to mess things up for you but I have been reading about your
progress and you have been on this journey for quite a while and maybe you should not give up yet, I dont know, just needed to tell you this story abt. my friend.

Good luck with any choice you make!

Hey Ginger, just nosing around the forum and found you here. I have this address you can check out. I found it interesting as Canadian Health magazines have just recently started advertising such products, our regulations and restrictions are so high we are always the last to have acsess to what everyone else has had for years. Anyway good luck and good health with this and keep in touch. The web address is www.mentorcanada.com and they are called Memory Gel breast implants. They say they have 2 decades of experience and global reputation for quality and safety record. So very best Ginger! and go big at least a big C, it your going to spend the money.

Dear Louise,

Injectable augmentation?

Are you referring to something like "Celution?"

There's Celution which uses stem cells, these actually become breast tissue which grows blood vessels etc so the extra tissue is a living part of the breast not just a lump of fat. There's also Macrolane which is I think hyalauronic acid (same as the jelly inside your eye), this is natural and non-toxic but non-permanent as the body breaks it down in 1-2 years. Also I saw a recent article about autologous fat transplant (injected fat from a minor liposuction) using Brava domes to cause extra blood flow to the area which prevents the fat dying and calcifying - this had a great result, see the link on the Brava forum, it was Livinonaprayer that started the thread a few weeks ago.

size matters (or so they say)
May 21 2007 at 11:47 PM roseytall (no login)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi girls
i can see alot of u r mullin over the inevitable question.....WHAT SIZE!
its so frustrating that the surgeon cnt say i will wave my wand n u will be the size u want which is a
B cup / C cup / D cup

etc! they wont do that......all they say is put a sports bra on and try different sizes or do the rice test.....
honestly its different on diff bodies.....i was told its
my natural breast tissue + the implant = the size u get

i was a small 34A but barely filled it....n wot lil i did fill it im pretty sure was due to takin wonderup for 6 months which was a success for me....but then i never truly kno cus i havent taken it properly since february.....n my surgeon said that no herbal concoction cld achieve THAT much growth.....

i had 340CC size implants...n this is as large as what my surgeon was prepared to go as he said anymore wld mean MORE skin stretch and also wld achieve a more unnatural look like a porn star who dont have tear shaped boobs but seem to have a round shape even above the boob....

i turned out between a C and D cup....im only 3 weeks post op so i dnt know my exact size cus im in a 34D sports bra which i fill out but not tightly....n i was advised i wont kno for sure til the 6 week mark roughly which is a sensible time to go get measured n give the boobs time
to "DROP" which means due to the skin stretchin slowly the finally loosen up n stop bein stiff mounds on ur chest but loosen up n sag like natural breasts n move n bounce a bit.......

ultimately ther is no 100% foolproof way of predicting size.....but 1 things for sure....going to less is worse than 2 much......cus if u go 2 lil u will crappy thinkin is that wot i went thro all this through? but then again if ur really huge then thats not gr8 either......

me personally i never left the house or entered a pool without padding so now im REALLY a C-D cup no 1 seems 2 have noticed .......
not my work colleagues .......not my friends......no 1!

and also even D cups look small under clothes n in a sports bra......but then again im a size 10 .....perhaps if ur a very thin person then it will be noticeable the sudden curves.......with me its more a case of now my chest matches my curvy ass n "generous" thighs/hips/bum!

best of luck

It seems logical to me that implants would have different effects on different bodies with different results, but most people that have it done seem to err on the large side. I suppose you would feel bad about going through the whole thing and then finding that you didn't have enough put in, so I see why they err on that side.

Help! Save me from the Boobie Greed Monster
August 24 2007 at 9:00 AM Susan (no login)

I was thinking of having 300cc put in, but now I'm reconsidering the whole thing and I'm looking at 350cc or even 400cc. Is this just the Boobie Greed Monster influencing me? The thing is that I've heard after the op a lot of women wish they'd actually gone bigger than they did, so I'm thinking that it's best to err on the large side. But then other times I think it's just the Boobie Greed MOnster egging me on.

From everyone I know who's had a boob job, most wish they had gone bigger. It's easy to say when you're starting out with next to nothing that you would be happy just to be an average C cup, but once you have that it's often not enough for you. To have the surgery repeated to go larger is very costly, so my advice is go a little bigger than you initially thought you wanted to. I have done herbs and BO and have grown from an A to a large B/small C (depending on the brand of bra) and when I started all of this I said I'd be happy to be a full B, but now I want to be a large C/small D!

Really large implants only look good if you already have quite a bit of breast tissue to start with. It looks awful when girls who are less than an A cup go too large because you are able to see the outlines of the implant and it lookd very unnatural with two volleyballs under tight skin on a small frame.

If you are reasonably tall, have a larger frame and already got some breasts to start with, then the chance of looking good with big implants is better.

I have a friend who was a small B and rather slim. After having 4 kids, her breasts had become very flat and saggy so she went for implants. She chose to be a D cup. Now, years later - and many many POUNDS later, they are more like large grotesque hanging E or F cups. She has to wear a bra at all times, even in bed, because they'd hang down to her knees if she didn't. I find her body ugly and I'm glad I never got implants myself.

When you decide to go big, think about what they will look like later on when you put on weight and gravity hits. And big bouncy firm balls look very odd on an older woman too... It's just hard to get big implants to look good on someone.

Realistically they only have a lifespan of about 10yrs so surely you can either have smaller ones put in next time, or when you get to be old enough that you'd rather be comfortable just have them removed altogether.

Sure, you can take them out after ten years or go smaller, but how saggy would that look on a scale from one to ten, when your skin and tissues are all stretched out and there is nothing there to fill it?

I have heard of women who wished they had gone bigger and even had another op in order to go bigger. But I can't remember hearing of anyone who had another op to go smaller.

I agree with Fennel Fairy. It seems to me that going smaller after 10 years could end up looking horrible. I don't think anyone should be thinking like that.

After women have a boob job they think it's great at first, but then they get used to the new size and it doesn't seem so big anymore. That's why there are many cases now of women having a second op.

I was a small B cup and got 350cc silicone implants under the muscle and now I am large C to a small D. However it tends to be different on everyone... depending on your body shape and the type of procedure you're having.
