Nutrition

Hello everyone!

So, I've decided to invest my time in learning about Nutrition. I think most of our deficiencies , health problems are because we do not eat properly and well, I think having a solid information on this area would be great!
I'm not a sci person but I am 100% sure I can learn things as well even it may take me more time. I mean if I could get into Law School, get my degree + master and be accepted on P.h.D program, I can learn new things that a bit harder!

I'm very concerned about leaky gut issue since I was diagnosed with it two years ago , but I would love to learn about everything.

Do you know where I can learn online? Books, websites, pages, articles, courses...? I just found things in Spanish but I speak English, French, Italian too !

Any help would be great!

Thank you in advance Tongue

AM reading about leaky gut as we speak!
In specific to my Raynauds never realising it’s an autoimmune disorder, then Its saying heal leaky gut in turn heAls autoimmune!

I put a friend onto a $20 book about autoimmune conditions and how to heal them and her ten year battle of sores ALL over her legs were gone in weeks!
And all she had to do was eliminate inflammatory foods to heal her gut and adhere to the autoimmune diet and not for long too. Isn’t it MAD how little emphasis we place on food vs going to a dr and get given medications when the answer is right under your nose...

This might not address auto immune triggering food but it’s fascinating gluten free nd EASY recipes!

I am going to start up my leaky gut supplement by metagenics and have a Great Lakes supplement which should  help the connective tissue repair. I have Great Lakes gelatin but find it abit abrasive but the reviews on it for gut repair are tremendous. Not a huge fan of lots of protein but if that and greens and whole foods are what helps heal leaky gut one would hope taking digestive enzymes will lessen the burden on our bodies digesting it.

Hi SweetOrange!
Several months ago I got an email from Dr Mark Hyman offering to let me watch a video series on Functional medicine.
I watched all 8+ hours and was convinced he has the right idea to medicine.
His web page is here
http://drhyman.com/about-2/about-functional-medicine/

They talk about leaky gut quite a bit, among a million other things.
It is work are little google time to see what his team has to say about it.

As for functional medicine, it sounds like their approach is to find out what your doing to make a particular condition flourish, instead of doling out pills to cover the problem.

Nutrient content of food:
https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/
http://nutritiondata.self.com/

The 2nd link actually uses the data from the first link but adds some nifty search tools.  You can also look for other similar sites and apps to make it easier on you.

RDI's:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reference_Daily_Intake
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/nutrient-index (mentionsthe RDI, amounts used in various studies, and the quality of those studies or lack thereof)

Studies:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/
Good starting point for verifying xyz herbal fad to see if it's legit.  Some studies are worse quality than others, but after looking at several or seeing that there's only 1 study paid by the manufacturer, then you can get a rough idea.  Try to find mg/kg, whether or not an extract was used and how much improvement was in the test animals before assuming 1 capsule of xyz herb will cure x.

There is of course more to it than reference data, but reference data can help you verify if something is real or just a popular notion.

I just found this and I think it's curious to discuss about : E dominance leads to breast cancer in most of cases? I thought breast cancer was 90% genes, but also nutrition issues?
