Aguaje is Mauritia flexuosa from the palm family, and buriti oil comes from it. The plants roots contain mauritic acid

Generally speaking, palms fruits have anti-dht properties, and have use as an emergency food, possibly because of their complex fats. This table, table 5 shows that aguaje is used as a therapy for reproductive diseases. The article containing table 5, Use and diversity of Palm..., said that there are at least 3 palms that aren't safe, but not Mauritia.

Mauritic acid: a new dammarane triterpene from the roots of Mauritia flexuosa L.f. (Arecaceae) says that Mauritic acid has anti-cancer properties.

There isn't much research in it. If anything, its because it has complex healthy fatty oils, and it has anti-dht properties.

Aguaje (Mauritia flexuosa) is from the palm family. It contains mauritic acid in its roots, and Buriti oil is made from its fruits.

This chart, Table 5, shows that aguaje is used as a treatment for reproductive system problems. There is a little bit more information in it's containing article https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3930192/

If it works it's, at least partly, because of its nutrition properties, including complex fatty acids, and because palms generally have anti-DHT properties. At least three palm plants are toxic, so you get the idea that not all palms can be used.
