I use right hand on right breast and left hand on left breast. In the beginning my hands got really tired too, but you just have to work up to it. I tried using opposite hands before, but the feeling isn't the same, so I personally don't think it's effective.

There's no cupping involved, you're just moving your hands around your breast. Sounds like the way you're doing it.
