I think for a lot of people massaging is beginning to play a big part in growth. You mention that you rub but not how long for, perhaps it's not long enough to achieve results?
If you are not already, consider massaging at least once or twice a day for 30 mins and include some breast slapping (maybe check out the massage & exercises forums for more info)
This is the one thing in my routine in which i experience growing pains the most so perhaps if you feel the aches too, you will be encouraged by this and carry on
