Notsobusty, thank you so much!!!
Alright, so I've just spent hours on here (when I should have been doing homework) trying to figure all this out, and have especially been studying idreamofD's program.
So about PM and BC
Since I am on Nuvaring, I technically don't ovulate. I do remove it after every 3 weeks though, and get a week of withdrawal bleeding. Now, if I don't ovulate, that means I don't have hormone spikes and drops. However, while I've been on UB, my breasts have been inflating and deflating, meaning that hormones definitely have played a role. But can my hormones spike and drop, while I still don't ovulate? Also, I've noticed that while on UB, my bleeding has been a little irregular (early heavy spotting once, and late a few days another time). Normally, the removal of the ring should signal to your body that it should shed it's uterine lining. When I got my period last time, it came on the day I was supposed to take the nuvaring out (before I had actually taken it out), meaning I had not yet signaled to my body to shed it's lining. So I'm wondering if UB was messing with my nuvaring?
Anyways, this next cycle (that starts in a few days), I will try to take back-to-back nuvarings, and continuously take PM for about 3 months, when I take out my ring for a few days and stop PM for that time, then continue like the first three months.
From what I've been reading however, this means that I could potentially continue to remove my ring after every 3 weeks for a week of bleeding, but still continue my PM while bleeding. Or I could even stop my PM for that week to do a detox.
This is so confusing!
Tomorrow I have an appointment to get a pelvic exam and pap-smear etc, so I will ask the doctor about nuvaring and skipping periods etc.
