It's less tiring, but I feel it's less efficient too. I tried both and when I'm standing up, it strengthens my arms, I can feel the weight of the breast, and I get a swelling in the end that I've never experienced when massaging in my bed (I did it for about two weeks). I may be wrong but I'd advice not to do it laying down.
