Your body can absorb most of the protein you consume, but it's not really a matter of absorption, it's more to do with utilisation. When it comes to your body's daily building and repairing of muscles there's a limit to how much protein is beneficial in a single meal, although if you're very active or you're trying to build muscle you are likely to benefit from a higher protein intake than would otherwise be the case.
What I meant was your body won't utilise all the protein and turn you into a manly bodybuilder physique as she's worried about if you don't work out on it, it will simply turn into fat stores not increase muscle mass without exercise
