im trying paypal now but their site says
my debit card is invalid.that cannot be.
so this is delaying my NB experience!

I've never used greendot myself. I just found the site. I think if I were in your shoes, I'd opt for the pre-paid Visa/Mastercard you can pick up somewhere local. That way you get it immediately, too.
