Making massage lotion
March 1 2007 at 4:43 AM Anonymous (Login DeniceC)
I am just starting my program. I want to make my own lotion for daily massage. I am going to use a cocoa butter and vitamen E base. I was just wanting advise on how to add the herbs (fennel, fenugreek, etc.) Should I soak them in something before adding them to the lotion for better absorption? How much should I add? What is the best herb combination for lotion?
Thank you for your help.

you can use aloe vera gel as a base, or an oil like cranberry seed oil.

it is better to use herb extracts rather than dry herbs for massage. fenugreek and wild yam are popular ones. borage is another good base oil.

u need a couple of tubs.
choose oils as apposed to dried(iv tried it and the bits just stick to you)
I used to use this:
Cocoa cream
Fennel oil
Borage oil+Oilve oil
Vit E
EPO
Mix together and keep in a tub.
I used different variations.
Coconut cream, helps rid the smell of fennel
I don't use the mix above as i cant stand the smell of fennel.
i now use, collagen gel, the after i mix shea butter with borage oil which comes with olive oil and VE in it-its less messy and doesnt stink
Try the general ref pages there is loads of info on Oils
Black currant oil, borage ,EPO are all high in GLA which is good for NBE
Good luck

I mix my massage batter with:
Cocoa Butter ---------- 70%
Vitamin E Oil --------- 10%
Borage Oil ------------ 10%
Evening Primrose Oil -- 10%
The percentage is approximate, but close to truth.
And I'm actually getting quite a good result here, which is finally paying off after almost 5 months, LOL.

You can use EPO, pumpkin seed oil, flax oil - just a few ideas.

Olive oil is a great carrier, I use it quite often for my own lotions. Otherwise cocoa butter or aloe vera gel.
