Liver cleanse - why, how and when?

I have heard talk about doing cleanses, why is this necessary? What are herbs doing to the liver? How often should this be done or only if you've stalled / had adverse reaction? How do you do it?
I'm taking WU, sporadically taking borage oil, intending to start marine collagen and nettle root - do I need to cleanse and how often?
Thanks x

You can look after the liver quite adequately simply by taking Milk Thistle. You don't need to cleanse to protect the liver. I'm surprised breast enhancement products don't include milk thistle as one of their ingredients, as it would be most helpful if they did.

I don't know about other breast enhancement products, but the one Louise is taking, Wonderup, *does* include milk thistle in it's ingredients.

Precisely, WU contains MT so you are already protecting you liver. Herbs are stressful on the liver beacuse they get processed there so the liver had increased work and side metabolites production. MT acceleraets regeneration of liver tissue.

Thanks guys, silly question: do I need to worry about ingesting too many capsule shells? Does the contents work more / less effectively f the shell is removed?

Shells are good, they are usually made from gelatin, which is a protein which we need. If it's cellulose then it's good for gut flora. I wouldn't remove them.

I don't get gelatin ones so I assume they're celluslose but I find them v hard to swallow as they're so big they make me gag afterwards - will the contents work less well if I take the shell off?

Taking the shell off will make zero difference to how the herbs work.
