Question About Soy Capsules
February 29 2008 at 5:04 AM Wanttobecurvey (no login)
I drink soy milk, and originally it really seemed to work for me, but I think my body
got used to it, can that happen? I am wondering is soy capsules would work well.
I see Eve had a pretty high does of Soy in her program. I have read that soy is actually one of the if not the most potent estrogen like herb, and it is the closest in chemistry to real estrogen.
Thoughts all? Also the manager at my health food store said he haad a customer who who a cross dresser who claimed soy made his breasts grow to a size d, although he said the guy took a high dose.

I think soy is one of the best NBE supplements. Soy milk, although seemingly effective for many is very very very low in soy! It's 90%+ water! I would recommend soy isoflavones as they are the estrongenic part and are structurally similar to PM (I did a lot of reading about this a few months ago). I got mine from here:
http://www.herbalextractsplus.com/soy.cfm
Their customer service is great, it's value for money especially if you buy the bulk powder which you can then put in food (you only need about 1/4 tsp daily) so no swallowing horrible capsules either. Be careful if you're outside the USA as your own country may charge a lot for tax and shipping.
Soy in general is expensive so it's better value for money to buy in bulk and this particular extract is really strong so also good value. In local shops I've seen products packaged as soy isoflavones with only 3% isoflavones so you would need 3x as much to be equivalent. This product is definitely the strongest soy product I've seen. Only caution with soy is to check for hypothyroid symptoms.

I doesn't say on the bottle - maybe you could contact the manufacturer although it might be a propriety recipe which they can't divulge. Also remember that like the soy milk it will only be a weak solution with a small amount of soy beans and the beans then only have a small amount of isoflavones.

Remember soy sauce contains a hell of a lot of salt, so prob wouldn't be good to have loads of it! An excess of soy is supposed to be bad for your health. I can't remember exactly why but I've heard it said a number of times!

Hopeful - I love Chinese but mainly sweet and sour not soy sauce, Chinese would be a good meal as it has a strong enough flavour that if you bought the soy isoflavone powder you could add some and not even taste it. I had a lot of feelings when I took 6x WU + 1/4 tsp soy made in a porridge with milk protein powder, oats and oat based fruity cereal - really tasted nice and was a warm and very filling meal with low calories. Will probably need to go back to eating porrdige for dinner a few nights per week as I keep stuffing myself!

Well since I'm taking Vitex do you think it would just be pointless to eat estrogenic foods? I would like to add soy into my routine but since it has a lot of estrogen I don't know because Vitex is for producing progesterone. What do you think?

Vitex isn't for producing progesterone it's for balancing all your hormones.

I got this from the information on herbs forum (post by waxingmoon):
How Vitex Works
Vitex works by stimulating the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and suppressing the production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). This in turn causes the corpus luteum to secrete more progesterone. Progesterone suppresses the production of prolaction. Also, vitex has components that bind to the dopamine receptor sites of the pituitary, inhibiting prolactin secretion. http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/milksupply/herbal-rem_c.html

But isn't that only if it's progesterone you're lacking? Like it can also raise or lower estrogen and lower excess testosterone.

Yup that is true too, it affects all 3 of them. But from reading Jackie's past posts she is estrogen dominant so I think the vitex would help her in terms of the progesterone part though right?

Not sure, most people just experiment. She'd be better off getting medical tests done and if she is progesterone deficient trying the USP progesterone cream.

Alright, I'll check it out. I think me and Karen are really the only ones who have been taking Vitex [alone]. I saw on some pages that people would mix Vitex in their routine with other estrogenic producing herbs [ie. wild yam] or others. It really doesn't make sense. Doesn't that just defeat the purpose then?

It's not harmful to mix vitex with other things but if you are taking the normal estrogenic herbs then why take vitex to counteract them.

And yeah that's what I was saying... It would counteract them. That's why I think it'd be pointless. Like taking Vitex with Saw Palmetto probably would be.
