GLA is gamma linolenic acid. It's an omega-6 fatty acid that is in between linoleic acid and arachidonic acid in the metabolic pathway. But it can also be turned into the prostaglandin PGE1, which is anti-inflammatory, increases aromatase, and stimulates growth hormone and prolactin release.
