Or do they need to be raw? I can't eat flaxseeds raw. They just taste disgusting to me that way.
Lately, I have been making vegan peanut butter pancakes in the morning, with flaxseeds as the egg replacement. Not for NBE, but because I am trying a low-carb diet to see if it helps with my bloating and digestive problems.
But it would be a double win if the flaxseeds can help me on my journey too. I am just not sure if flaxseeds will work the same way if they are cooked?

Hi,
Its been a week since i have started ground flaxseeds, sunflower, sesame and goji berries in yoghurt and i cant comment if it is having any nbe benefits. I have noticed a dull ache in the breasts occassionally but do not know if im imagining or its doing anything. I am not cycling rather, consuming 30mg daily. My periods are not stopping and its my 8th day. Dunno if thats to do with consuming flaxseeds.
Absorption is better if you consume them ground not whole- it has a nutty taste to it.
Alongside that i am noogling. Good luck with the flaxseeds and keep us posted x

In pancakes, pretty sure yes they will work. Even heat sensitive nutrients are barely damaged by that amount of cooking. And I don't think phytoestrogens are particularly heat sensitive.
Some brief Googling revealed that soy phytoestrogens survive 7 hours of pressure cooking and light/no acid. Increasing to stronger acid, more sour than pure lemon juice, plus 7 hours of pressure cooking finally managed to destroy a portion of the phytoestrogens.

I haven't had time to get on here much, so sorry for the late reply, but thank you to the two of you for helping me with my question.
If anyone wants to know the recipe, I got it from here:
http://meatfreeketo.com/low-carb-vegan-p...-soy-free/
i substitute the almond butter for peanut butter, since I don't like the taste of almond butter. i also use water in place of almond milk.
Most days I also double up the recipe, since the original recipe only makes 1-2 small-medium pancakes for me.

I recommend having 2 or 3 tablespoons of well ground flaxseeds in the morning, just before breakfast. Something as easy and simple as this can give you noticeable benefits in just 2 to 3 weeks.
It’s also perfectly acceptable to either chew flaxseeds or gulp them with water. These seeds have a special nutty flavor, which can be quite tasty. However, it’s always better to have ground flaxseeds.
Another way to include flaxseeds in the diet is to mix it with wheat flour, along with pastes of other herbs, and then to add this mixture to tasty dishes.
