Macrolane, Anyone try these Injections?
March 3 2008 at 12:35 PM Confused Sheep (Login stacey-k)
Hi was wondering has anyone tried Macrolane?
Its Hyaluronic acid and you can get it injected into breasts for a 1 cup size increase. It wears off after 18 months or so and you have to get it done again.
I'll provide the link because there is a couple of before and after pictures on website

I can't say that I am all that impressed with the photos. I can't figure out whats wrong with the butts to begin with and the after photos aren't that great.
I guess it would depend on the cost of it all, seeing as you have to go in just about yearly to have "refills" I can see if someone really can't grow, but I think NBE might be a better option and possibly more cost effective.............

I checked this out - to me it looked good if you want lift and a subtle increase in size. Did you check out the cost at all? Bet its more than you would think and then there are the top ups. But I have to say my boobs look almost exactly like the ones in the picture (before, obviously!) so I appreciated seeing the potential!
It would be good to see some testimonials with it being such a new procedure.
I'd be interested to know what the experts on here think too! (Just a novice so far myself...!)

I don't know what is the thing that they inject, but I have an example of my friend's desperate mother who did similar thing many years ago. This substance was rejected by her body, leading to serious complications and no breasts afterwards.

It's hyalauronic acid like the jelly inside your eyeball. It's harmless and the reason you need a top up is that it is slowly metabolised by the body over bout 2 years. The only risk is the risk of infection from having an injection. It's about 2k per treatment I think.

It costs between 2000 and 3000 sterling and then after the 18 months or so i think it costs half that because theres still some left and so they don't need to use as much.
The substance used has apparently been used for years in fillers for the face.
Heres another link from people that tried it

That's really good because at least it is kinda more natural than implants, but too bad it can't last longer than a couple years though. Than again some people have to replace $5000 implants soon too...

I wasn't impressed myself either. They basically got the same results as you would if you just massaged everyday for a month or two. That doesn't look like a cup size bigger either. Just got fuller. Waste of money. Why don't they just inject in more eyeball goo in it or whatever you said. Hahaha.

Hi all,
I live in Asia and I have just had the injection done 2 days ago. I think the press and those who had it done were seriously downplaying the pain factor. Yes, it is a lot less painful than getting implants but the injection wasn't 100% painfree. I knew that the skin around my breast area is going to feel tight afterwards but I didn't know that it is going to be this painful! The pain was so bad that I couldn't even lift my arms yesterday. It's getting better today but I think it will probably take another few days before the pain goes away completely. Had somebody warned me about the pain beforehand, I would definitely have thought twice about getting the injection.
As for the result, well, they do look slightly bigger and fuller than before (I had 50cc injected into each boob), but will I go through the painful and not to mention terrifying procedure again? Probably not.

Sheep, if you are looking for drastic volume incresae, then the traditional implants are the way to go as this is not something that you can achieve through macrolane. It's expensive too.

I agree, I went from a small 36B to a full 36B, maybe a small C after 100ml Macrolane injected in each breast. If you want to go from A to C for example then Macrolane will not achieve that.
100ml is the maximum that can be injected. Try measuring out 100ml in a cup and you will see how little volume that really is.
Macrolane is best suited for minor reshaping.

In terms of mls, 1 teaspoon = 5ml so 100ml is only 20 teaspoons!

No, you can't have Macrolane done repeatedly like that. You can only get a top up done once it has worn off significantly after about one year.
I don't know the medical reason why you can't have more than 100ml in the breast at one time but I suppose there must be one.

A few more reasons why you wouldn't want to have this done repeatedly in a short time....
1.The procedure is unpleasant and painful. After the first time you will not be queueing up to have it done again any time soon. Believe me.
2.It takes 4 to 6 weeks for your breasts to recover and settle down.
3.It would cost 3000 pounds each time.

Can it be big difference between recovery time and what can it depend on?
I heard about two women around 25 years old ( my information is from a person who knows them very well ) who received the Macrolane treatment during some kind of product demonstration. Both of them felt unconfortable for about three days and they are both extremelly happy with the results.
Maybe it pain etc can depend on doctor experience or somethings else?

April 12 2008, 6:19 PM
Katie, To be honest I wish I hadn't bothered. They have softened up a fair bit but the shape and movement is still unnatural and unattractive. I've also developed squashy, blister like lumps close to the skin on one breast which are tender to touch and as you can imagine look unsightly. I don't know if or when these will go away, I can only massage every day and keep hoping.
I don't have a partner so I can't tell you what a man would think of it but I doubt they would be impressed. I wouldn't be too keen to show them off to anyone at the moment.
To be fair, I think my unhappiness with the shape is down to a bad choice of surgeon. She could have done a better job and I think her idea of an ideal shape was completely different to mine.

Macrolane and uneven breasts
April 17 2008, 7:32 AM
Nancy, I think it's possible that Macrolane would help even out differently sized breasts. Whether or not it would look natural depends on the skill of the surgeon and exactly where the Macrolane is injected.
Remember that Macrolane is only temporary, so even if you do get a good result it will only last about one year.
