not sure if anyone has heard of or covered this herb/root yet. i only just heard about it from the herb suppliers sent with my wp & licorice root extract today. a quick search reveals:
it is good for digestive system and is a pro-biotic, is a natural sweeter which does not increase glucose levels (for diabetics), reducing cholesterol and improving digestion.as well as is an antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, cancer-preventive. also it may improve absorption and retention of minerals like calcium and magnesium. it has also been linked to weight loss in a 120 day study.
known side effects : none (though to be noted: one case of anaphalactic shock after consumption of extract has been documenetd).

to note: i did find one "warning' website regardin yacon root extract, however i was unable to load it. so i am not sure as to what warnings other than a possible anaphalactic shock is to be considered other than perhaps extremely low blood sugar is possible if taken in large ammounts
