I started a modified version of the greenbush program, about 3 weeks ago. I realized that even with all the research Ive done on this program I still have no idea how much tea Im supposed to be drinking. Im drinking 2 cups a day made with 1 tbs fennel each. Is that enough? Does it depend on how much of the other herbs Im taking?

Hi mochaccino,
That's too much. 400 mg is enough. Since a tea bag is 2,000 or 2,500 mg, you can make one pot for 5 or 6 days and keep it in the fridge.

Wow, really?? It's just regular whole powdered herb and not a powdered extract. Even the full tablespoon makes a fairly mild tasting tea, not that means anything I suppose. The basic fennel and "fennu-fennel" teas that were so popular back on the old board were usually made with 2 to 3 tsps of either fennel or a mixture. Were they completely wrong? Why is this too much fennel and what would happen if I continued at this dose? Isabelle, I think you mentioned that you became progesterone dominant drinking six cups per day. How much fennel did that work out to?

Hi mochaccino,
Eve used 400 mg with 1800 mg hops and 1800 mg fenugreek. I became progesterone dominant at 8 cups, which was 2,000 mg.
In my favorite publication

fennel contains 4 times more phyto-progestins than hops contains phyto-estrogens. So it's only logical Eve took 4 times more hops.
There are, of course, exceptions: luteal phase, and women who are prone to estrogen dominance, which often appears to occur together with PCOS, tubuler breasts, and persistent AAAs.
