Anyway what gets my goat is whats the real story with SOY, I mean honest to goodness non gmo organic fermented soy..
Japans at the bottom of the list and still I believe to this day have the lowest cancer rates in the world but the biggest part of their diet is soy! They also consume a lot of rice which is now contaminated with lead but yet they still have low cancer rates in traditional towns. Maybe their particular rice (unprocessed or grown rural) is of a better standard who knows.
In the book "the blue zones" the longest living pockets around the world, for the most part miso is a part of their daily diets. Does the iodine content in the sea based products they consume offset the negative impact on thyroid health?

I bring this up cause if we can get some sort of protein from soy it seems most vegetarian products, like vegetarian sausages, patties etc are all soy based! I need some alternative to protein in the interim Sad
I agree not to touch supermarket soy products but the good stuff you know.
Agh I don't know.
I think the non GMO soy is pretty good, I wouldn't eat it every day because of my thyroid but your thyroid is healthy, so you shouldn't worry about it.

That's really a difficult situation with your husband! Sad

My mother always wanted to eat less meat but she thought my father could be angry if she cooked meals with less/no meat so she never changed. Now after she had breast cancer I worried so much about her health and showed her a couple of documentations, articles etc and finally she stopped eating meat. She didn't buy meat since weeks and my father has no problem with it at all! He wasn't a big meat eater but still he ate a little bit of it almost daily. So this makes me very, very happy! They still eat some dairy products but there are so many plant based alternatives now, which they are trying out now. I am so happy about this! Smile
[attachment=10038]A good example of a non-meat dinner.
I should mention that always have fruit on an empty stomach, so start with your fruit first. The bowl is a bean soup mixed with Extra virgin olive oil, extra virgin sesame oil, extra virgin coconut oil and some herbs (mint and oregano).

That looks very tasty. I like salad s so if I can pair it with potatoes or kumara it should fill me up. I need to have non gas forming foods at the moment with my gut issues. If I produce too much gas it presses on my stomach and causes sharp pain. Hopefully I haven't developed an ulcer . I have some gut healing supplement I am taking however.

Hope your mum overcomes her bc Peggy.

Ella, I forgot to mention that I also added some apple cider vinegar to the bean soup, it neutralizes the gas in the beans.

Do you think the acv might be too acidic for inflamed stomach initially? I know lemon etc has a alkaline effect on the system but initially I'm scared it might burn my esophagus going down?

I don't like sour taste, and when I mix ACV (only about 1 tbls) with oil and mix it with beans, I can't even taste the ACV anymore. Also ACV has many great benefits.

Il summarize it for you Hannah. Our countries are the worst when it comes to animal consumption and cancer rates so we are *****d!
No offense for sounding harsh peggy I know this is all to our benefit. But its hard hearing what we've been brought up to eat our whole bloody lives can kill us plain and simple. Im finding it hard I wont lie. BUT I understand, I appreciate this info and I can SEE by the graphs and listening to what he is saying this info is true.
IF I had the support of my husband then this transistion would be a lot easier. Im fighting up uphill battle. Maybe I need to show my daughter the slaughter houses and see if she is scarred like you were and then she will not want to eat so much meat! Hubby has over ridden my authority as a parent by letting our girl eat processed food to the point its all she asks for!
This is soo hard trying to do on my own but I will work at it.
I soo fucking angry I didn't see this shit years ago and maybe id be in a better state of health today.
Sorry rant over.
Im googling thai diet and also rural china diet to see what they consume given they have good statistics and being at the bottom of the charts..
Ok im done. Rant over

Oh throw the rants out Ella. No problem I just read doing that will help excess toxins from getting into your crampy muscles(muscles appaerently cramp when you hold in emotions, then toxins and waste materials stay longer in your body, perhaps also causing cancer)We cant f orget, that cancer is a disease caused by multiple factors including stress. You could read that in the article Pom posted few pages back. I soak the info like a sponge, its all informative for me and yet I havent seen hard evidence of one thing only beeing the cause of cancer. Just take everything in moderation, if you know a reliable REAL biological meat label- then that would be a great way to go without dropping meat radically. Going vegan only for a couple of days a week, is already a great improvement/accomplishment. Because my husband would be mad if he didnt get meat with his dinner..no doubt! And when you swear of meat, there's still a lot animal-food in your diet-at least in mine--> coffee milk, cheese, sauces, icecream, even in candies and cookies. So just dropping meat want do the trick IMO.
Oh and Ella, I really was a bit shocked from reading about even rice is contaminated. These food scandals make me hesitant about going vegan. Isnt it just a fact that there's something wrong with many of our foods? Recently I had a spider baken into my bread from the supermarket, and the same supermarket was in the news months before for selling a bread with a dead mice in it!! The bread and mice were cut into slices of bread, it really looked disgusting!
