I'm not advocating it's use by anyone, in fact I usually advocate against it for most people, but just not for toxicity... It's just not there.

There have been to date, TWO confirmed actual cases of liver damage linked to saw palmetto, and in both cases it was decided it was likely a combination of things, an interaction with other things the individuals were taking. There has also been one confirmed actual case of pancreatitis, again, believed to be caused by an interaction and now saw palmetto alone.

So... Yes. The potential for a dangerous interaction to occur is there, depending on what else you may be taking... But it's extremely rare.

There IS a real reason I discourage its use in most cases: It's just not necessary and can lead to complications no matter what your circumstances. The real risks of liver or other damage is very minimal, but there's the very high chance of it making it harder to lose weight and even causing fat gain and/or cellulite. Even if you can actually make use of it.

That other guy sounds like he may be another case of liver damage, but since he refuses to see any doctors... But the only thing he's talked about that leads me to that possibility is the bloody spittle. And who knows what he may have also been using at the time or not and what interactions could have occurred. He also still didn't even need it. It was way overkill.

EDIT:

I did just think of something else that the doctors maybe hadn't considered... perhaps the liver damage isn't directly due to the saw palmetto, but due to the saw palmetto reducing already unhealthy hormone levels to downright dangerous ones. Which is another reason I typically advise against saw palmetto.
