saw palmetto and hirsutism

#1

hey ladies,
I know that SP is supposed to help with hirsutism and I've been taking it for a while now, just wondering if any of you have actually had success with it?

Hi Stella,

SP does have anti-androgenic effects and should help reduce hirsutism. http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/saw-palmetto.html
There is also a prescription cream called Vaniqua that is very good (if you’re interested).

I also find that reducing intake of sweets and refined carbohydrates helps a lot.

Hope this helps.

does that Vaniqua works for other kind of unwanted hair removal, or does it have to be specifically facial??

Hi Nessa,

Vaniqua will not remove the hair, it controls the regrowth. So whatever method of hair removal you use(example tweezing), you will need to continue; but over time you will not need to remove hair so frequently and the hair grows back thinner, lighter and much easier to pull-out from the root.
The cream was advertised for unwanted facial hair in women, but I guess if you have hair elsewhere that is caused by hirsutism (example in the chest) it should have the same effect.

Hope this helps.
