Brazilian school kids have acne. There's far less acne in Kenya, Zambia, Malaysia, and rural Japan than is common in Western societies. But if there was any doubt left about the diet-acne connection it should have been erased by the seminal research paper published in the Archives of Dermatology in 2002 by respected Natural Prescription for Acne Paleo Diet: No grains, dairy, beans, or soy; high in protein (fish, grass-fed meats), vegetables, fruits (especially berries), nuts, and omega fats.
diet and acne are definitely related. but sometimes hormones are a bigger bitch and there isn't a lot you can do about it.
I am a Malaysian grow up in this country and stay here all the while and I don't agree when you say that acne cases here are low. It is high enough that it affect people around me and myself. If you were to fly over here and have a look at the beauty salons that are set up to accommodate these people you would be very surprise. It is like mushroom growing after rain.

Most people have acne or skin problem partly because of bad respiratory and digestion system. When a person have both of this then the hormone will be knock out of balance and everything starts going havoc.
I still get pimples although I am almost 30. I am used to get them around my period but sometimes some pimples will remain a week after my period ends.
I read about coconut oil or olive oil to clear up acne.
I have a VERY oily T-zone but since I started using this boscia cleanser it isn't oily anymore (I don't even use blotting paper anymore) but I still get pimples.
I have been putting coconut oil on my face for the past 3 nights and so far no complaints. I read that some girls broke out putting coconut or olive oil on their faces.

I put a mix of castor oil, peppermint oil and evoo on my face, steam my face to open my pores so the oil can get in and get to the bacteria and dissolve my face's natural oil (sebum) then I just wipe with a washcloth. It keeps your face moisturized so your body doesn't produce extra oil and my face is already clear of alot of the acne from doing this. I want to keep going and after I get rid of my ance it'll just be my dark spots I have to worry about.

I really love this method so far.

interesting!
how long have you been doing this?
did you have an oily t-zone?

Just for a few days but alot of my pimples have vanished and my skin is alot clearer and calm. And oh yea, its so disgusting! My T zone is produces more oil then the rest of my face. Lol but this method is definately amazing and def worth a try! You might have to play around with which oil is best for you though.
I've realized a while ago that my acne and clogged pores are so bad still because of vitamin deficiencies (my NBE has actually gotten rid of MOST of my acne, because I naturally produce too much Testosterone and no Estrogen or Progesterone). I realized it was low stomach acids causing my body to absorb almost no nutrients, and since getting on HCl supplements, my acne has gotten so much better (it got worse for a few days as my body pushed things to the surface). I can tell a HUGE difference in the way my clogged pores are clearing now, and can only hope that means eventually they'll stop occuring. I've also been using Tea Tree Oil during the day instead of my usual Bio Oil. It dries faster and works just as well for less than $3 a bottle as opposed to $12. Smile It's perfect for the winter time, since my skin is trying to dry out!
I understand this is not a natural remedy. However, I haven't used it but have read varies reviews online that head and shoulders shampoo I great for acne. I don't have acne at this point in time in my life but I still get flare-ups from time to time. Again, I no this is not a natural remedy but it maybe worth looking into.
The OCM - oil cleansing method which is what Emily is describing, is renowned for supporting acneic skin. Often people use a jojoba oil as it is alleged to mimic human skin sebum closely and is very light. Castor oils can be very astringent and strip in some cases and cause drying-not what acne suffers want to do. Even use of a light olive oil is good. There are some good recipes on Skincaretalk DIY forum from when I used to be on there. In any case use oil, wipe gently with a warm damp cloth and allow to dry off. Results after the initial purging are very good, moisturisation, equalisation of sebum levels, smaller pores.
