Our body uses a process is commonly referred to as oxidation to destroy old cells and infectious organisms. Duri.g this process certain specialised molecules known as free radicals are released which cause the destruction of cells. Increased amounts of these free radicals can be harmful for the normal cells. This effect of free radicals is prevented by antioxidant molecules. Green tea which is rich in EGCG is a potent antioxidant that neutralise the effect of the free radicals and also protects the cells and tissues from being destroyed.
