am i dominant or deficient?
December 4 2008 at 12:57 PM laisegirl (no login)
Ok am new to this NBE, have been researching this site for several weeks now. Will post program soon. I took the online hormone test and i am confused. ok on the top list(dominant) I came up a total of 3 symptoms, 2 of them being on the *** list. and on the bottom list(deficient) i came up with 5, 3 being on the *** list. So am I dominant or deficient? I read and read and am still confused. Any help would be VERY appreciated. I started on NBE on wednesday 11/26/08 - FG, RC, MT, EPO 3x daily and SP 1 at night( trying that to avoid bloating, if get none will increase during day) multivit daily and ultra nourishing hair vit. Plus i massage with EPO and lotion and put Vit e on afterwards.

am i sabatoging my NBE because i am taking the wrong herbs for deficiency or dominant?????

Hi Laisegirl,

You may be estrogen dominant. What were the symptoms that were positive. Some of the symptoms 'matter' more than others.

If you are strongly estrogen dominant then doing an NBE program that promotes strong phytoestrogens (like red clover) and interferes with progesterone (like red clover) would likely increase your symptoms and have little chance of working.

The fenugreek would probably be fine even if you are estrogen dominant and the saw palmetto and EPO would also be a non issue. I can't for the life of me figure out what MT stands for, so...

Anyway, with a little more information I may be able to be more helpful.

Best wishes,

Ok first thank you for responding! I went over the list again because when i went over it the first time I was really tired(been a very long week). This is what i came up with

Dominant list - cold hand and feet: which i have always had but do not have a thyroid problem, **fat gain around the middle: this has been creeping up on me over the past yr however, i went from a job that I was moving all day to a job that i primarily sit all day and have to admit my diet has gotten worse since changing jobs(working on this), allergy symptoms: I have ALWAYS had slight allergies and they have actually gotten better in the past 5 yrs or so. it only affects me at times now, in spring and fall but still only slightly

Deficiant list - **weight gainSadmostly around the middle) I have never really had too many problems with this until about 3 yrs ago(deciding it was due to turning 40) and realized I kinda had to watch what I eat but was able to control it until i started this new job, * bloating - obviously this occurs right before my period but also depending on what i eat(i have a had a bad diet for the past few months), * disrupted sleep - ever since i was pregnant with my son over 21 yrs ago I have gotten up in the middle of the night(think it's a mother thing) this has decreased as my children have grown now it just seems I get up at times to either pee or when my life is stressful. I notice that when things are calm i don't get up as much. Typically i get up during the week 1-3 a week but dont tend to get up on the weekends. gastrointestinal distress - ok several yrs ago my husband and i seperated, my stomach distress started, couldn't eat anything without causing diarrhea, a doc treated me for an ulcer(although never tested for it), after we reunited the syptoms subsited but still there. my stomach has never been the same, I notice certain foods that irritate it and usually try to avoid them(of course its all the good foods that irritate it) and its worse during stressful times, and last - facial hair: i have noticed in the past yr or so that i get a stray hair on my chin(thank GOD i am blonde) here and there but really nothing more than that. I do have my mustache waxed, which is blonde so really don't need to have in waxed it's just somehting i do.

So there you go girl, hopefully you can give me a clue the best route to start on my NBE. I REALLY appreciate you taking the time out of your life to help me and give me advice...

Hi Laisegirl,

I don't think with that symptom list that you are strongly estrogen dominant. There are many other potential reasons for the symptoms that you have.

However at your age it is likely that you could become estrogen dominant as your body would get closer to menopause years. With this in mind I would not advise you to chose an NBE routine that would focus on high amounts of potent phytoestrogens.

You might try the fenugreek and EPO and possibly fennel. The fenugreek is a galactogogue which would not raise estrogen and the fennel is a mildly potent estrogen. The EPO will help your body to build tissue and hormones.

Check out Surf's program page (easiest to find through the link at the bottom of her picture page). She had great success with a program using fenugreek and other things. She was in her 40s when she started.

you have been a huge help!
December 6 2008, 2:02 AM

First thank you for getting back to me so quickly and for your input. From you have told me I'd be best to drop the RC and keep up with the FG and SP. maybe I will add the fennel in a week or so. Then if i don't feel or see any growth, i will up the FG and SP.

i did check out surf's program and will try it it out...other that the RC,which i noticed she took for a short time but quick due to spotting, which i have had none ofthankfully.

what are your thoughts on using cayanne for circulation?(cold hands and feet)

any other suggestions? I am built similar to surf, i am 5'8". 127 pds(fluctuate at times), i do smoke but am cutting down, i am also cutting way down on my caffiene, moving from diet coke to decaf diet tea...slowly but doing. I make sure i do not drink any caffiene 1 hour before or after i take herbs(at night is the hardest).

trying to go back to a low carb diet, which a few yrs ago i handled very well then got off track. did it mostly to try to get the little bit of "middle" that had creeped up on me after i hit 40. My body right now hates me for changing everything at one time Feelingvery tired, not sure if it's due to working alot or the herbs or the decrease in caffiene...probably all of the above!

any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated....i hate to be a pain!!! girl you shoudl get paid for all the advice you give on this forum!!! you name pops up everywhere on here! thank the boobie GOD for you!!!!!

have a good night! take care.

One more questions: are you still on a NBE program? if not have you kept your growth? )ok thats 2 questions...sorry!)

Hi Laisegirl,

It sounds like you are on track with what might be a good program for you. You won't know until you try, but I think you are doing all the right things. As I recall several people have used cayenne to increase circulation.

I am still doing NBE. I use two herbs, fennel and goat's rue. I take a low dose of fennel to help support my dwindling estrogen (I am 46, so a little closer to menopause than you). I take the goat's rue to help with breast growth and also weight loss. I recently have begun to use progesterone cream again because I am once more having estrogen dominance symptoms.

However, the biggest part of my NBE is now using suction method. I use the Noogleberry and find it very easy and quite helpful. With this method I have been able to keep my increases I had gained over the last 2 years while I attempt to lose the body fat I have also unfortunately gained in the last 2 years.

I wish I had used the suction method from the first. It is really easy and I believe it will eventually result in permanent gains. I have quite a long program page if you are interested in the details of what I have done. I have recently updated it so you should find it near the top of the program page.

Best wishes,
