I know protein intake is very important for growth. I'm just having a hard time in general with gaining weight so I'm pretty sure I'm not consuming enough protein. How much protein should one take while pursuing NBE? Also, will taking amino acids in lieu of proteins work just as well since amino acids are the building blocks for proteins? I'm currently taking lysine 1000mg and arginine 10000mg daily. And can anyone please suggest inexpensive sources of protein rich foods? Thank you.

Considering the half life of hormones which are from a few seconds to a few days I'd look into using tyrosine, tryptophan and histidine for hormone synthesis.

Fatty acids help with synthesis too.
