As long as you massage carefully and get into it you'll be fine! Shower is a good time, because of the soap making it easier to massage

I like doing one after a shower so my pores are open for my creams but you can always just use a hot wet towel for 5 min then massage. I do morning evening night massages each different. hope this helps
