Cayenne revisited

I know we have talked about Cayenne before, but I just ran accross some info that was interesting, and didn't know if it had been posted before.

adding raw cayenne pepper to any herbal combination increases the potency of any of the herbs that are combined with it.

I had read this, I was trying to do the cayenne pills but got really bad heart burn so I open the pills and poured out some of the cayenne, kept trying until I was at less than 1/2 left and still got heart burn even with taking with food so I dropped it.

I don't get heartburn, but it definately is a burning sensation for a while...I can only take one a day. I wonder if we took it with a saltine cracker or something? Milk?

Cayenne is a burning herb, of course it's not supposed to be taken in as high doses as other herbs. A normal one time dose of cayenne isabout 200 mg, if you take more you get irritation of gastric mucosa and higher even vomiting. Companies unfortunately don't pay attention to that and sell them in inappropriate doses.

And I have also read that information before, I want to start cayenne again but I have a problem with how to take it cause I can't even buy it in capsules.

Does ginger not have a similar action?

Wouldn't taking more of this than you could eat without it burning your mouth be bad for you (hence it burns your mouth to stop you)!?!

Hi all,
I have fallen into the habit of adding a little cayenne to a lot of my beverages.....shaker kind from supermarket....add 2 shakes to glass of water & fresh squeezed whole lemon upon rising in the morning (very good for the liver....which I am always freaking out about) & when I drink any herbal teas I add 1 shake....I find this adds to the warm sensation of an already warm drink without burning you at all. Since I have several of these drinks a day it adds up to a substantial amount without more pills.
Do you think using the supermarket shaker kind is as effective? The only ingredient in mine is 'red pepper' no preservatives. It gives me a warm glow in my face without being uncomfortable so I figure I am getting enough to be effecting my metabolism.
Maybe try it at just 1 shake & work up cos I feel it does have great health benefits...I dont actually take it for NBE.

I had the same problem with Cayenne. I also read about how it helps with supplement absorption as well as circulation, but it gave me a burning stomache that lasted for quite a while after taking the pill and also mild heartburn. That was after only 1 pill taken with lots and lots of water.

I asked about this last week and the general opinion was that the cayenne from the spice aisle in the supermarket isfine as long as it is pure capsicum. Careful with the heat units!
