Hi

I've a few questions about collagen and would be grateful if anyone can help.

1. Is collagen and gelatin the same thing, just named differently?
2. What exactly is collagen, and how does it help breast growth?
3. Is the breast growth permanent from taking the collagen?
4. Is swalling capsules the only form of taking collagen?

Thank you so much for any answers you can give. Wink
Haha. No. Just. No.

Collagen is a protein found in human skin that gives skin strength and firmness.

It doesn't actually effect growth at all, it just firms up saggy skin. In many women, this helps their breasts a lot.

Gelatin is... gelatin... I have no idea what any claims made for gelatin might be.
Collagen is the building block organic molecule of almost all the tissues in the body, not just the skin. It is the most abundant protein in the body accounting for some 25 to 30% of the whole body protein content. It is certainly the primary constituent of muscle and connective tissue which includes adipose (connective tissue specialized for energy storage.) Normal breast tissue is a combination of glandular structures embedded in subcutaneous adipose tissue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collagen

Gelatin is a mixture of peptides and proteins produced by partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the skin, boiled crushed horn, hoof and bones, connective tissues, organs and some intestines of animals such as domesticated cattle, chicken, horses, and pigs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelatin

Some claim that ingesting gelatin promotes the health of collagen throughout the body, particularly the hair and nails. Since breast tissue consists partly of specialized connective tissue, it is hoped this salutatory effect will aide NBE. However, proteins must first be broken down (digested) into smaller amino acid chains or down to the actual amino acids themselves before they can be absorbed from the intestines, so I personally am skeptical about this purported effect.

Still, there are other high molecular weight supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitinsulfate that do have an effect when taken orally so it may be possible that ingesting gelatin will help NBE. It certainly won't hurt. Many folks on BN use gelatin in their NBE programs. Search these boards for gelatin to find out what people think.
Wow, what an explanation! I feel smarter just reading all that! Lol

I've been curious about trying biotin for my NBE (as I have heard before that collagen may not be absorbed and broken down as well), but I haven't really heard any results where this had made a great difference either way. I still might try it, though, as I'd love to get softer skin and hair in the process.

I was taking MSM before (for my bad joints, not for NBE), and while I had heard that it would be a great addition to my NBE plan, I found that it really made no difference either way (I was also taking 2 and 3g of it a day with just a slight difference on my joints, so I'm not really sure exactly how much I would have to take to really see the effects). So I'm not sure if collagen/biotin/gelatin would fall under that same category or not.
