Some time ago now it was suggested to me that taking saw palmetto would help with my acne. I can report that it did! But I also noticed at the time that I got some boob growth and initially I thought it must be down to the saw palmetto because it stopped when I stopped taking the saw palmetto. But I'd never heard of natural or herbal breast enhancement at the time and soon decided that it must have been a coincidence. This was backed up by my mother who told me I was just having a late puberty and waved away any suggestion that the herb could have made my boobs grow. But now reading this forum I'm convinced it was no coincidence at all and it really was the saw palmetto which was causing the boob growth at the time. But I see that women here are not taking saw palmetto alone, so what I'm wondering is if the herb by itself is normally a breast enhancer or was I just lucky with it?
Hi,
I'm guessing that you are still fairly young? My interpretation of what you've described is that, possibly, your hormones were still a bit out of balance from puberty, with possibly excess Testosterone/DHT floating around and that could well be the cause of the acne.
SP acts to prevent the formation of DHT and that should have sorted out the acne problem in itself. Preventing the conversion of T to DHT, as a side effect leaves the T available to be converted into oestrogens in a perfectly normal bodily biochemical reaction, and that in turn may account for the boob growth you experienced at that time.

So whoever told you to take SP for acne was correct, and your mother saying that it was just a puberty thing was also right, in a way, although the SP didn't actually cause the growth, it just provided the conditions in which they were able to grow naturally.

If your natural hormone balance has sorted itself out now, the chances are that you may not get the same effect if you start SP again.
So SP is a hormone balancer? So , e.g., if you have excess estrogen & low progesterone or vice versa, it will balance out the 2?

Not that I'm aware of.
It simply prevents testosterone from converting to DHT, which then leaves the testosterone available to convert to oestrogen. Progesterone doesn't come into the equation at all afaik.
Im thinking of adding SP to my program. I currently take red clover and fenugreek. Anyone know if its better to apply it direct to the breast rather than taking it oraly? Iv heard thats best with flaxseed oil so thats what i do :-)
