Ella, I just read the following:

Quote:Some evidence suggests that evening primrose oil might affect the levels of estrogen in your body, though the oil's effect on estrogen has not yet been definitively demonstrated....

...according to a study published in "Menopause" in 2007. This suggests that evening primrose oil might increase estrogen levels, since it might mirror the effects of estrogen therapy for treating symptoms of menopause....

...Although the role of evening primrose oil in treating hormone-related disorders suggests it might alter the levels of estrogen in your body, as of October 2011 no study or clinical trial has carefully examined its role in regulating estrogen. As a result, it is not yet known whether evening primrose oil can cause high estrogen levels.

And here an interesting response as regards EPO and breast cancer:

Quote:I can find no evidence suggesting that evening primrose oil has estrogen-like effects or that it increases breast cancer risk or risk of recurrence. I did come across a report suggesting that GLA might actually augment the treatment of an aggressive type of breast cancer associated with the Her-2/neu gene. Research at Northwestern University found that GLA inhibits the action of this cancer gene and also improves the response of these breast cancer cells to Herceptin, the drug used to treat Her-2/neu-positive breast cancer. (However, I've seen no confirming follow-up studies.)

If you've had breast cancer and find that evening primrose oil relieves hot flashes or is otherwise helpful to you, there's no reason not to continue using it.

*still wiping the laugh tears away btw...* Smile

But thanks for posting that, I have never seen anything indicating it would increase estrogen levels wow. That explains is then doesn't it!!!!
Its more likely that women noticed the breast growth post/during EPO supplementation as a result of increased estrogen!
Well I am not sure if it really increases estrogen, maybe Lotus will find any studies. Wink. However it seems to be safe as it actually could help with breast cancer, so I will definitely soon up my dosage. Smile

Sounds good. Smile
Ella, did you speak with your health guy?

I received some informations about EPO from our lovely Mistress Lotus and want to share them:

Mistress~Lotus Wrote:Hi Peggy,

Did some checking on EPO and found a few things, I hope you don't mind! Smile

From BREAST NEXUS:
Quote:Author Judy Graham who wrote a book on EPO claims to have gone from a B cup to a DD cup without gaining weight any place else while taking EPO. Researchers aren't sure why but it's apparently not an uncommon occurence. Women who have been on studies involving EPO have reported the same thing. Personally I wouldn't just take it by itself but would include it in a comprehensive BE program. Most people who have experienced growth have taken it for at least 6 mos or longer and at relatively high dosages i.e. 3000mg-4000mg range.
Quote:I did a bit of research on the internet and netdoctor states the following info about combinging evening primose oil and birth control pills:

"Many of the women who take evening primrose oil (also known as Gamolenic acid, or Efamast) are also taking the oral contraceptive pill.

There is no evidence that there is any interaction between evening primrose oil and any other medication, and certainly no suggestion that this product might interfere with the action of the pill.

Starflower oil, unlike evening primrose oil is not a licensed medicine and there is little available information about it. However, unless you are taking excessive doses of starflower oil, it seems highly unlikely that it would interfere with the action of your oral contraceptive pill."

Hope it helps, post any or all as you choose! Wink
Hey lovely.
No I didn't go in as I decided I wouldn't take it full stop, that said what I've read in my hormone book Dr Christine horner recommends it..
I'm in two minds but I'll go through what you both have supplied and if I do manage to get in to see him I will update absolutely :-)
Thank you both again :-)
I'm really curious ladies.. Do you cycle Epo?

I can't seem to find any information on when to take it.

Has anyone ever had problems with their cycle going out of whack with Epo? I introduced it as my massage oil, and attempted to take it orally. The first time I tried, it was about a week and a half after my period, and within only two days of 1300mg capsules, I'd been launched into another full period two weeks early.
The second try, I cycled it. Started day one of period, for roughly a week. My following period came 9 days early.

I hoped to introduce it to my program, but with those setbacks I don't know if it will work for me.. Or is this one to take all the time?
Hi caitemh

I don't think you do cycle EPO, I think you just take it every day for as long as you want.

I have been taking it for 3 months now non-stop. My periods don't seem to have been effected by it, not sure why yours are doing what they are doing. I haven't heard that EPO can effect periods - are you taking anything else that may be effecting it?

I take 2000 mg everyday without cycling it, and I'm not having these kind of problems. That's really strange, because it's not an hormonal supplement, maybe your body doesn't tolerate it
