So I've been taking MSM for a while now and it does wonders for my hair and skin and also wanted to add PABA to my routine, so I bought the NOW FOODS PABA. Thing is I read on the label you're not supposed to take it using sulfa drugs. Found another brand of PABA online http://www.super-smart.eu/en--Vitamins--...0-mg--0439 and the directions for use say:

Take between one and five capsules a day, as required, spread out between three meals.
Do not take more than 3g of PABA a day without medical supervision.
Do not take PABA alongside sulphur-containing nutrients (MSM or NAC) or drugs (sulfa) as it inactivates them.

So does this mean you're not supposed to take MSM at all or wait a few hours after taking PABA...Huh
are Gaba and Paba similar? I was taking Gaba with MSM for a couple weeks but stopped to do a milk thistle cleanse and I was partying and drinking like a lunatic and ended up with a UTI ugh! aside from that I didnt notice any side effects or maybe i wasnt taking it long enough to notice anything.

I've been researching getting something for my nails. Each of the combination "Hair, Skin and Nails" products that I checked out contain a bunch of vitamins and minerals just like a multivitamin, and also both PABA and MSM. While I wouldn't buy them as I don't want to overdose on the normal vitamins and minerals, it makes me wonder if the manufacturers have any idea what they're doing - aside from packing a bunch of chemicals into a capsule and trying to make money.

For all of its inefficiencies and inadequacies, sometimes I wish the FDA or someone (such as Consumer's Reports) would check out the supplement industry to make sure they're doing a decent job.

Yeah...the FDA should really check out the supplement industry
