Full Version: Why doesn't goat's rue tea give me swelling?

I've only been using the tea for about 4 days, I think. I make it from 1 rounded tsp of roughly chopped GR, and 1 level tsp fennel. I add the mixture directly to freshly boiled water, stir, and strain it out after 20 min. Lots of people claim that GR tea gives them immediate swelling. Why don't I get any swelling? Is 4 days just not long enough? What, if anything, does it mean if prolactin increasing herbs don't produce swelling for me? Swelling is definitely not my end goal, but I'm a little worried that I'm not swelling at all.

I have to use a lot to get good swelling: three teaspoons, and that three times a day. If I take less, even miss the last cup for the day for instance, there's no swelling.
Oh, I guess I have nothing to be worried about. What you said makes me want to run a test. A little swelling will reassure me that something is happening, then I'll just drop the dose. If a higher dose doesn't cause swelling, I'll be really confused. I'm gonna run the test ASAP and report back.
It could also just be a case of, " what works for one...etc". GR tea did nothing for me even at high dose for a month or so.
I tried drinking 3 cups of goat's rue tea per day for 2 straight days and I don't think anything happened. I don't know what, if anything, that means, and I'm going to continue using goat's rue for now. I'm just gonna take a mental note of the result in case it becomes relevant in the future. During this part of my cycle (days 5-10) I was also taking fenugreek, fennel, saw palmetto, and a small amount of stinging nettle (to sub for the spearmint which I haven't gotten yet).

Mochaccino, when do you take your goat's rue tea? I only seem to get swelling if I take my tea after a meal (30-60 minutes after I eat). I have tried to take my GR tea around 20 minutes before a meal but felt nothing afterwards so perhaps it is also important when you take it?
This post is a little old, but I really wanna thank you, Luisa. I'm not supposed to be taking GR during this part of my cycle, but I think I'll try the test again today, drinking the tea 20 min after meals.

More importantly, you really got me thinking about the timing of supplements. I've had major digestion issues for years, and I think timing the supps in relation to meals might be even more important for me than it is for most other people. Right now I'm just taking all of them 20 min before meals.

If this GR test doesn't work, I'm gonna be pretty confused again.Does anyone know when I should expect to see the swelling? About how many hours after my last meal would I expect to see swelling, assuming I don't start to swell before then? I'm asking these questions because I plan to take measurements to keep track. It's possible I won't swell enough to be able to see or feel it. I want to be able to differentiate a tiny amount of swelling from no swelling at all. In other words, I don't want to come to conclusion that I'm having absolutely no response unless it's true. Then again, it's really hard to measure small differences. If I measure less than a 1/4" difference at the end of the day, I'll assume there was no response.

I'll probably update this thread after work, but it'll be really late. I might update it after dinner instead, if you all think I should have swelling by then.

I tried it again yesterday. I did the 360 rotations on a completely empty stomach in the morning, and swelled to 111 cm. Then I took 5,000 mg of L-arginine, 3,000 mg of maca, and a really strong tea from 3,000 mg of goat's rue. After one or two hours, without breakfast, I did 360 rotations again, and measured 113 cm. It's important to note that I wore a really warm fluffy fleece morning gown, massaged through it, and measured warm, immediately after taking it off.

That's the same thing that happens in the morning. In bed, my breasts are conical, which contributes a lot to the tape measurement. After I leave them one minute to the air, it's gone.

You can also try a large dose. The first time I tried goat's rue, I ramped it up to 10,000 mg, spread over the day. That's when I first noticed it swells.

Right now, I'm trying luisa's timing. It still puzzles me why I need such large doses. It may be poor timing.
That's 3/4" in 2 hours. 3/4" is, proportionally, much more swelling for you than it would be for me, because your cup size is already so big. It might not "look" proportionally bigger, but I'm talking about straight up geometry. Wow! That's really a lot. Then again, you do seem to be strangely sensitive to prolactin, but maybe it just seems that way to someone in my position Dodgy I'm planning to take around 9000 mg today. I hope it works.
