I'm currently taking red clover along with saw palmetto and fenugreek but I've read in this forum that red clover isn't good for BE....why is so? what would you recommend as a substitute?
Should I stop taking it now or finish this month cycle?
That seems odd. I always thought red clover was one of the more popular herbs for BE.
Here's a total non sequitur. Every time I see the name Red Clover I think of the ancient children's game "Red Rover, Red Rover, let [name of player of opposing team] come over." I only know the rhyme and needed Google's help confirming it, but have no idea how it's played.

I was wondering the same thing about postings concerning Red Clover.

Re Red Rover game: Red rover game

The postings on Red Clover on NBE are many Dodgy
I read that red clover WAS good for NBE, never heard anything otherwise...from what I read, it's a phytoestrogen, I think? Like wild yam, but a LOT weaker...but I don't know, I could just be remembering things wrong.

I hope it's not bad, 'cuz I just started using it like a month ago. And so far, I've had some pretty decent growth for a beginner...
I read somewhere that the phytoestrogens in Pueraria Mirifica (PM) are much more potent than those in Red Clover (RC) and that what happens is the weaker RC phytoestrogens may attach to an estrogen receptor and prevent the stronger PM phytoestrogens from attaching there. But I have no idea why someone says to not use RC when PM is not being used and the RC is in combination with things such as Saw Palmetto (SP) and Fenugreek (FG).
If you have enough of the weaker RC phytoestrogens to flood all the estrogen receptors it'll also block real estrogen. Thus it's also in female balance formulas meant to combat excess estrogen, even though the RC itself still provides a little estrogen effect. I've seen 1500-2400 mg recommended for this purpose, maybe less (500 mg?). RC contains a very large concentration of the weak phytoestrogens so it shouldn't take much to flood receptors, but I don't know how much RC that is. Smaller amounts of RC so as to not flood the receptors should be fine. Or hops is a stronger phytoestrogen, and pueraria mirifica is a much stronger phytoestrogen. You can browse other threads to find the right amount of those.
