Hay

In my views that I remember, 10_years me specially using coconut oil just to apply that mean to massage upon the skin, which keep the skin very cold and moisturizes very superb this treatment for dry skin .
Olive oil is one of the best natural treatments you can use for dry skin. It is a light and mildly antibacterial oil, very much like the oil produced by our sebaceous glands.

Are you talking about the olive oil that you cook with? Would the expensive extra virgin olive oil work any better than the less expensive "devirginized" plain stuff?

I just discovered how much more fun it is to massage in the shower with soap all over acting as a lubricant. Until then I was massaging dry, which was ok but not nearly as pleasing. I just wish I had the mental stamina to massage as long as many in here do, I can only manage maybe 3 minutes total at a time, then I get really really bored and quit.

Thanks
Olive is natural treatment for skin problem.
Cocunut Oil is wonderful for skin and tips of hair. It has long chain fatty acid which is nourishing inside and out. As a Herbalist, this is my "go to" oil for the body! Good Luck!Wink
If you're going to use olive oil for massage, you'd be safer using extra-virgin. It's made from the first cold pressing of the olives. Subsequent pressings are made after the olives are heated, so the quality is not as high. The same applies for coconut oil -- you want extra-virgin oil.

Additionally, hexane is often used to increase the yield. It's a nasty solvent that degrades the quality of the oil, and you wouldn't want to be rubbing that on your skin. It's worthwhile to look for "hexane free" on your oils and shea butter.
Almond oil is best oil for massage and I absorbs easily. It is very effective oil for dry skin.

I like Neem oil - yes it's stinky but worth it how nice it makes your skin!

and Squalane - derived from olive oil but is so light and absorbs very well.
Coming from a someone who's tried all types of oils (almond, coconut, virgin etc) I must say the number one oil for any use is hands down Argan oil. I was born to Moroccan parents so we always must have some in the house. It's a little on the expensive side but it's packed with omega 3, 6 and 9 and fatty acids. It really gives skin a healthy glow and it works wonders on my dry elbows and knees, as well as splitting hair and nails. If you're willing to shell out, I'm telling you, Argan oil is worth every penny! Since its packed with fatty acids you could even use it as part of your NBE program! A little goes a long way, it has a silky texture and a delicious nutty smell to it. Try it, I promise you won't regret it! SmileTongue
A 100ml bottle will last you about 3-6 months depending how often and how much you use it.
Just to clarify there is no such thing as "extra-virgin" coconut oil; this is simply a commercialized statement for oils stemming from the popularity of extra-virgin olive oil thus companies are now being prohibited from stating that their coconut oil is "extra virgin" as it can only truly be virgin oil.

That being said coconut oil is extremely beneficial when used both externally and internally. It is an antibacterial and antifungal thus makes an excellent addition to an anti-candida diet and combats acne when used topically. It is readily absorbed by the skin so if it is added to any kind of NBE product it will act as a carrier oil. I use it for my massages as well as face masks to enhance the absorption of other nutrients.
