A Soap Opera Unfolds

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are not usually taking part in a soap opera here, but in recent times the line between that kind of drama and the exchange of information has blurred, turning normal forum activities into a sideshow compared to the gossip. That means things are looking either very bear like or very bull like, depending on your point of view. For some the scandal has detracted from their usual experience here and provided them with unwelcome concern, for others it has been the icing on the cake, not to mention the cherry on top. But whichever way you look at things, surely after the smoke clears from our eyes we will see the field more clearly than ever.

Some do not want to intentionally get anyone caught up in the blender. They only want to put all out on the table...cake, icing, cherry and

all. Provide ALL the ingredients. Let everyone do a taste test and decide on their own if they find it palpable or not. They will have all

ingredients at hand with no secret, hidden ingredients. Since afterall, they deserve to know exactly what they're putting their mouth on

and into.

FYI-there's a difference between so-called 'Gossip' with the intent to stir-up drama AND just informing others of conflicting/debatable

information....... afterall isn't this a FORUM??

You probably mean palatable. Palpable refers to touch. Are you guys talking about a new NBE cake?

I agree with the remark about gossip. It seems to me that there is good gossip and there is bad gossip and which KIND it is largely determined by the INTENT of the gossiper. There are actually good and noble motivations for gossip. Humans are naturally social creatures. We are genuinely interested in one another's welfare. It is natural to exchange information with each other and it's equally natural to want to hear about what's going on. What some call gossip in this forum may in fact be simply passing on information. If the intent is to malign someone or something then it is bad gossip. If the intent is to inform then it is good gossip.

Informing your friends is not gossip, and I'm thankful for a good friend who passes on information. If not for the good grace and well meaning of one person to take the time, I would still be in the dark...... Or maybe I was accidently left off the mass mailing to the customers apologizing for the problem and how to remedy it?

I agree with Sissy totally, I'm very thankful for a good friend who passes on information.
Eating cake: is there a scandal or not?

If I were eating cake and there was a scandal involving the cake maker I would like to know about it.

There may be stories of scandals at the butcher and candelstickmaker, as well as the baker or cake maker, but it's hard to know what's genuinely a scandal and what is no more than unsubstantiated rumour.

This sounds very much like the soap opera unfolds thread. Very mysterious, very evasive and doesn't make any sense.
Why don't you guys just come out and say what you want to say without all the analogies?
I'm begining to think someone is just doing this to entertain themselves. Smile

I doubt if it's entertainment, it seems to be something more than that. There must be some good reason why people aren't more forthcoming about what's on their mind, but if they can't say exactly what they want to say for whatever reason it might be better not to say anything about the matter at all.

I sincerely hope there's nothing sinister afoot in the world of bovine products. I've just been reading about this big egg scandal, how the leading supermarkets in the UK have been selling free range eggs for 5 years that now turn out to have been standard battery hen eggs. Talk about conning the consumer!

Yes that is terrible. It's a sad thing to say, but it just shows that you can never be certain where things are really coming from. It's just impossible to know whether free range eggs are truly free range.
