Iodine Supplementation

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though I'm *Sun* I've been struggling with low body temperature, as many of you have. :-)

I've been taking meda-stim as recommended by BB, but it has not helped my temperature. I'm wondering at this point if low body temp wasn't part of the reason I didn't grow during the three months I was on my herb program.

I'm probably looking at a thyroid issue and am going to take liquid iodine in a controled manner to see if that helps my temp. If not, then next stop Dr.s office, although I cringe at the idea of talking to him about *why* I think I have a thyroid issue... "Hi Doc, well you see I started a program for natural breast enhancement..."

I've been doing a lot of research on iodine supplements and just wanted to share a few articles I've found fascinating. They speak both to dosage and to duration of use issues, both of which there is a lot of conflicting information on.

Hi Sun. I also suffer the same low body temp/thyroid issues. The only thing that helped me was taking a liquid thyroid (about 3-5 drops per day). My temp went up to 98.6 within like 4 days. I adjust the drops as needed. My bottle says not to exceed 5drops. It's called Inosole?? Iodine. I had taken the L-T and kelp for a few months and it did absolutely nothing for me. I had to do some research on my own about hypothyroidism and here's some things that might help you as well....

Avoid flouride
Avoid chlorine (found in tap water... drink steam distilled water)
Avoid broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage

All of the above block your body from absorbing idoine.
As far as your doctor is concerned, you don't need to tell him your doing NBE. Almost half of women suffer from low thyroid so it's pretty common. Good luck!!!

Lindyrose-- that's great! Thanks for the post. I wasn't aware until very recently that flouride could be a culprit. Not only was I using flouride toothpaste, it's also in our city's tap water of which I was drinking a ton.

Have you had any noticable changes or increases since you've been able to keep your temp up? Like tingles or pains in your breasts, increased fullness or growth?

I'm also curious to know of you've noticed improvement in your overall health-- energy levels, sleep, moods, clarity in thinking, etc. Apparently people with iodine deficiencies can experience dramatic improvements once they get enough iodine in their system.

I ordered a liquid iodine on line, it should be here in the next couple days. I'm very, very hopeful it'll help my cold-bloodedness so the BB will work!!

I had to quit taking the BB for a while until I got my temp up, which I did, but then I did a liver cleanse/fast to give my body a fresh start so I quit taking the iodine and my temp went back down (bad idea) So now I'm waiting for it to go back up and then I can start on the BB again. I haven't really noticed a difference in how I feel yet. Wish I could say I'm sleeping better but my husband snores so I don't get much sleep. haha
Common plant oils block iodine!

There are a number of foods known as goitrogens that block iodine. Two goitrogens are quite prevalent in the American diet — peanuts and peanut butter and soybeans used most often in prepared foods as textured vegetable protein (a refined soy food) and soybean oil. For those of you who have trouble with low temp even though you take iodine supplements - this may be why.

On the other hand, coconut oil taken orally can raise basal body temperatures while increasing metabolism. Worth a try! The only vegetable oils that are good for cooking and doesn't affect the thyroid are coconut and olive oil.

OK, very cool information. I have low temps and tyrosine/kelp don't work. Couldn't tolerate cayenne. I'd be happy to take coconut oil - but how? Do you have recc dosages and where to get it?
Thanks!
Smile

It is recommended to take 3 tablespoons a day of coconut oil to correct the thyroid problem.

Thanks Sheep stew! I heard that before and bought some extra virgin coconut oil but I was only using it occasionally. I'll try more of it and see if that helps. It kinda makes your food taste funny but I guess I could get use to it. I gave up coffee and now I have to give up peanut butter?! This better be worth it!!! Smile
Thanks for the info!!!!

Does it mean we have to avoid peanut butter during the whole duration of the boobies project? OMG. Didn't know that it involves all these....

does one just drink the coconut oil raw like that?

For the past few days I've been putting the coconut oil on my toast and frying/baking with it and I also put it in my protein shake smoothie (blenderized of course) and it not only raised my temp but it makes going to the bathroom really easy if you know what I mean. My temp has actually been on the high side for once so I think I'll stop the kelp/l-t for a day or two and see if stays up.

Great info... I'm so thankful you brought it up.

BTW, It said on my container to put it in smoothies that's why I put it in my protein shake, in case it seems a little weird (it did to me at first) It's not as bad as it sounds, just when it doesn't completely emulsify I'm a little squeemish.

I'm glad it worked well for you. Perhaps it could be the solution for those who doesn't get any higher temp from kelp or tyrosine.

that's great lindyrose that the coconut oil is working for your temp! I may just think about trying it myself so I can rid myself of swallowing those kelp pills everyday. Smile Hope your temp stays up when you stop the kelp also.

Good luck everyone!
