Lactation?

Hi, I have been taking BO for 4 months, and if I squeeze my nipples, the left one has some clear liquid barely come out. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it a sign I am starting to have growth? I recently had a mammogram: normal.

I never experienced that myself while using the Ovary products. Have you had children recently? The reason I ask is because I have breastfed two children before and I had a tiny bit of milk left for as long as two years after I stopped nursing, which would sometimes leak out.

Dear Fennel,
No children. It haven't had that liquid lately, maybe it is related to when I use that electric "massager" with the mini-shocks. It was a very very tiny amount,of clear liquid;like the size of a pinhead. Hmmm, well, I will write back if it happens again! Maybe the higher settings of the massager can influence that?? I decided to keep the settings low, so I won't harm tissue. (I read up on TENS machines).

Well, today I had a small amount like the size of a few pinheads come out of my smaller breast when I squeezed the nipple. (I can't think of how to explain the amount) The larger one never really had that happen, I saw a little but not as much as the other. And I did use that electrical massager last night for 45 minutes and heating pad after.

I'm not worried, but curious. I guess the PO is doing "something" besides just the immediate fullness!

I think it is the massage. When you massage the breasts intensely, it raises the levels of prolactine in the body. Prolactine is the main hormone responsible for producing breast milk. You can get the same effect through the GY (Grow Yours) massage too. Since it is such a tiny amount I wouldn't worry about it.

The fluid you see could be the result of two things. The first thing is that if estrogen levels get too high in elevation they can cause a cystic type fluid to be produced from the breast these are usually clear. The other result is early stages of lactation typically clear to cloudy which can be the result of physical stimulation causing prolactin production or a very sharp decline in estrogen and progesterone that mimics the process at the end of pregnancy which induces lactation. Hope this helps.

Moisture from Nips - good/bad?

OK, maybe a TMI post, but I'm stumped.

I stopped breast feeding my last child 4 months ago and have had some moisture from my nipples ever since (if I massage, etc...). I expected it to go away, but it really hasn't. It isn't noticeable, I only get it when someone is grabbing them - in the shower or if I do massage, that kind of thing.

I stared BO four days ago. Yesterday, day 3, I felt some pains in my breasts and reached to touch them. I felt moisture right away. There was definitley more there and it was produced pretty easily.

So --- is this a good thing or a bad thing? What exactly does it indicate? If it is higher levels of prolactin, will that enhance my chances for growth or inhibit them? I actually deflated while I was still nursing my son 3 times a day! My breasts didn't think they needed any fat in them even though I was bfing, so that seems to me to be a pretty bad sign for tricking them into future growth.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Ccup

My idea?
I would have to say that there is NOTHING wrong with you!!! The fact that you did just stop breast feeding 4 mos ago and that the moisture is there when you massage or grab them is NORMAL! Kind of suprising when you're not expecting it, though! the messaging is stimulating your breast nodes, which in all likelyhood are still somewhat enlarged after having your child. You are not alone. this is a potential side affect for those who do agressive stimulation of their breasts, to fool the breasts into thinking you could be pregnant. (Have a peek at the Grow Yours thread onthe main forum and tiger lilly's message has been said to cause at least one person to lactate!). As long as it's not leaking spontaneously and creating embarrassing situations Smile keep doing what you're doing and it could help plump up your breasts more! Keep in mind that any fullness experienced from doing this is more likely temporary and would slowly deflate again if you were to stop.

It's normal. I still had a small amount of milk in my breasts half a year after I stopped breastfeeding.

Funny how I can't remember something from yesterday, but remember vividly having milk seep from my breast in the shower one year after I stopped nursing. It wasn't just once, it happened all the time. I don't know when it stopped, cause I became so used to it I never paid attention to it. I didn't take anything to dry them up though, I just stopped after a gradual weening.

Maybe I remember this so well, cause after my big d's went away, I was bummed and I remember thinking "hey, maybe I can pump and get them back".
